Entrepreneurship, a widely used term and can be described by different people based on their understanding. Generally, by definition entrepreneurs are people who identify a particular need or gap in society, create ideas as a solution for it and capitalize on it as a business.
Who can be an entrepreneur?
The answer is simple. Anyone.
The is no clear-cut description of who qualifies to be an entrepreneur, however there are certain qualities that have defined many successful entrepreneurs in the world today and therefore can be used as basics an aspiring entrepreneur should possess.
1. Mindset and Adaptability
As an entrepreneur you should be ready for anything, especially when starting out. You should keep in mind that there are always challenges times along the way, and the way you respond to them can go a long way to determine your success. An entrepreneur should be open to change, flexible to new ideas and should be able to adapt swiftly to these ideas in time to achieve its needed impact on the business. An entrepreneur must naturally have a positive mindset and be a forward thinker.

Resilient personalities have the attitude of being unwavering, unafraid to take risks, and not afraid to make mistakes. No matter how many times they fall, they rise even better off than before. They are unmoved by circumstances in the interest of the business and keep focused on the goal ahead. They are persistent; however, with this attitude they still manage to perform their duties to their institutions accordingly. This is an important characteristic of an entrepreneur.
Passion is what keeps one going without reason. People are passionate about what they love and develop a deep sense of commitment towards such tasks. An entrepreneur should have the passion and the drive needed to keep pushing forward at anytime in the business. Passionate people tend to be more determined, ambitious and have a clear mind on what they want.
4. Creativity and Innovation
An entrepreneur is creative, and always bubbling with new ideas. Using the skill of imagination, a creative mind should always bring about something different that stands out from what others are already doing be it in problem solving, product and service innovation, process solutions or implementation. To have a breakthrough product or service, your idea should be an answer to a need of the target market.
An entrepreneur needs to have total self-belief, because there are times when he/she would have to walk the road alone. An entrepreneur should be an initiator, with good planning skills, able to forecast and identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the business. He/she should be willing to learn new skills and expertise needed to be accomplished in the relevant field.
Discipline is key in the life of every individual; so it is in the life of an entrepreneur. An entrepreneur should have fiscal discipline, emotional and behavioral discipline, physical and mental discipline, in order to be able to focus on set and desired goals.
7. Social skills
Generally, entrepreneurs are very sociable people in their own way because they understand the value of networking. It is valuable for entrepreneurs to have the right connections needed to create more business opportunities and meeting like-minded people. He/she should be able to communicate ideas and tasks effortlessly without fail and be able to work with and manage teams.
